AFSA Team, These News Bits contain important points. Please, read through as this addresses aspects of the management of your Chapters and our future commitments. Thanks Team!
HOT! AFSA HQs PDS 567, Division/Chapter Credentials, Accreditation of Chapter Delegates: Ref: AFSA Manual 100-1 and 100-2 In preparation for Division Conventions, Headquarters will pull division and chapter credentials the first day of the month proceeding the month in which the convention is held [Feb for Div 16]. If chapters are not receiving these reports, please let me [Keith Reed at memrel1@hqafsa.org] know soonest. A copy of all chapter reports will be sent to the Division President as well.
Chapters should ensure their credentials are in order. Chapters should ensure they have the last page of the credentials report (sent via email) reflecting the chapter’s total votes. In addition, please ensure each chapter has the Accreditation of Chapter Delegates form (Attached) signed by the Chapter President and Secretary and hand carried for turn-in at the Division Convention.
AFSA European Division Professional Airmen’s Conference: The Division 16 Professional Airmen’s Conference (PAC) will be held at Mildenhall from the 27 (Ice Breaker) to 30 March 2010 (Honor’s Banquet). Our Convention Manager for this huge project is MSgt(s) Rebecca Janssen at RAF Mildenhall.
In preparation for the PAC, your chapters will have to do several things: - Ensure your chapter credentials are in order - Advertise, advertise! Please, meet with the senior leaders in your bases and garner their support. If they do not know what this is all about, they would be hesitant to help you spread the word. In short, the PAC will offer tremendous amount of professional development, discuss QoL issues and management issues, and select our Outstanding Airmen to compete at International level. Disseminate PAC information to your chapter membership as you get it. - Budget & Allocate. Budget dollars to attend the PAC. Allocate dollars and leave/permissive TDY. Permissive TDY is authorized. - Reserve your tickets NOW. You will save considerable amount of money, especially if you’re traveling through RyanAir and book your tickets before February 4th. - Select your award winners and get everything ready for the 17 Mar deadline.
AFSA HQs PDS 563 (Membership Reports): It has come to the Headquarters attention that the Field is having problems retrieving 2009 Recruiting/Retention numbers. This is not a glitch in the system. As our Recruiting/Retention numbers reflect current year's information only, (i.e.: reports retrieved in 2009 reflect 2009's data, likewise, reports retrieved in 2010 reflect 2010's data). At this time there is no reach-back capability. As discussed in previous March Meetings, Division and Chapter Leadership has the responsibility to pull End-of-Year reports on the 31st of December.
Member and Field Relations Director, Keith Reed, is currently compiling the 2009 Recruiting/Retention numbers and will release the results in the "End of 2009 Campaign Year Update" in February 2010.
2011 Fiscal Year Jr ROTC Program: In March 2009, the Executive Council voted for AFSA International to manage the program. Subsequently, we [AFSA HQs] have met with officials from the headquarters of JrROTC and AF Recruiting Service to get the program organized and running smoothly. Details will follow and with local chapter support and local AF Recruiting Service support, we are going to make the program across the country be a great exposure for AFSA.
NOTE: For the current School Year 2009 – 2010, already in progress, the program procedures are unchanged. Thanks
Always motivated, Division 16 President Chief LugoSantiago
